Governor Braun Taps Joshua Bain to Regulatory Commission

INDIANAPOLIS — Governor Mike Braun on Thursday announced the appointment of Joshua Bain to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.

Bain’s appointment is effective immediately. He fills a seat on the five-member commission that regulates utilities and is charged with ensuring safe, reliable service at just and reasonable rates.

In a statement, Braun said affordability remains his top priority for Hoosier families and businesses.

“I have been clear, affordability is my top priority for Hoosiers. As families and businesses continue to feel the pressure of rising costs, it’s essential that we have leaders who will be ratepayer conscience,” Braun said. “Joshua Bain brings experience in energy policy, environmental stewardship, and collaboration across government and local communities. I am confident he will serve with integrity and keep affordability and the public interest at the forefront of every decision.”

Bain most recently served as Executive Director of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Before that role, he was Midwest Director for the Center for Energy Education, where he worked with local governments, chambers of commerce, and community leaders on energy generation projects.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University–Indianapolis and lives in Camby.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission oversees rates, service quality, and related matters for electric, natural gas, water, and other regulated utilities across the state. Bain’s appointment maintains the commission’s current party balance.
