John William Wigal, 89, of Paragon, Indiana, a lifetime Morgan County resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday evening, September 3, 2026.John was one of nine children born to the late Claude and Cora (Warthen) Wigal. He was born on Friday, April 9, 1937, in Paragon, Indiana. John was known and cherished by everyone who knew him, bringing much light, mischief and joy wherever he went. He truly earned his reputation as the community’s town clown. John would oftentimes be seen riding his moped through town and loved riding to the river, where he enjoyed spending idle time. He also found great joy in gardening, fishing, hunting and trapping.John attended Paragon School and worked most of his life in construction, working alongside his brother, Slug, for Wigal Construction.John leaves behind a host of loving family, including his wife, whom he married on August 12, 1959, Virginia Sue “Suzi” (Daggy) Wigal of Paragon; his sons, Jonathon Wayne Wigal (Amy) of Gosport, Indiana, and Carl Eugene Wigal of Paragon; daughters, Lisa Jane Dickey of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Pamela Sue Thomas (Jeff) of Gosport, Indiana; his sister, Bertha Bryant of Martinsville; grandchildren, Crystal Thomas, Shanell Humphrey (Jacob), Kaitlyn Vehling (Jered), Cheyenne Wigal (Kyle Cherry) and Destanie Dickey; and five great-grandchildren.John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arthur “Slug,” James and Dennis Wigal; and four sisters, Violet Stevenson, Lucille Carroll, Virginia Carmichael and Helen Austin.John’s friendly smile and comical personality will be deeply missed and always remembered by those who knew and loved him, especially the town of Paragon.In honoring his wishes, John will be laid to rest at Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon, and there will be no service at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Park Cemetery Association and mailed to 790 Valley Drive, Martinsville, IN 46151.Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center has been entrusted with arrangements. William E. "Bill" Kirby Jr., 89, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Greene County General Hospital. He was born August 22, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of William E. Kirby Sr. and Carolyn (Payton) Raves. Bill worked for most of his life in the coal-mining industry, including at Minnehaha Coal Mine and MX Coal Company. He was a member of the Worthington American Legion, the Linton Elks Lodge, and the United Mine Workers of America. He was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed collecting guns and playing softball. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and his beloved dog, Duke. Bill is survived by his son, Michael Kirby (Maryann); grandchildren, Joshua Kirby, Rachel Banek Kirby (Joe), Sarah Saldivar (Jason), Anna Ossewaarde (Brian), and Melanie Kirby; special companion; Wilma Cochran; his sister, Earlene Johnson (James); 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; his niece, Jamie Johnson; and his favorite dog, Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve Kirby; his brother, Tom Kirby; and his stepfather, Barnie Raves. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, with Pastor John Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the funeral home. Joseph “Joe” Allen Sanders, 66, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer, Indiana.Joe was born April 13, 1960, in Linton, Indiana, to Edwin and Donna (Welsh) Sanders. He was a 1978 graduate of Owen Valley High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Joe dedicated many years to the Bloomington Police Department, retiring after a respected career in law enforcement.Joe found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful: reading, cooking, riding motorcycles, and, above all, sharing time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his service, his steady presence, and the love he held for those closest to him.He is survived by his children, Heather Sanders; Hana (Josh) Dodds; Holli (Bradley) Sterrett; and Hunter (Colte) Sanders.
